Lilly opens interactive obesity experience in Berlin

Lilly Deutschland has opened an interactive experience focused on obesity in Berlin. The installation is part of the company’s #gutbehandelt initiative around World Obesity Day on 4 March and is designed to support a shift in perspective toward obesity as a chronic, treatable disease.

Immersive elements address stigma and access to care

Hosted at the Masumi Space on Kurfürstendamm, the exhibition uses walk-through elements to make the everyday reality of people living with obesity more tangible. One core feature is the “Tunnel of Isolation,” which highlights social exclusion and bias. The aim is to challenge common misconceptions and place stronger emphasis on medical understanding and appropriate care.

Statements from company and medical experts

At the opening, Lilly Deutschland Managing Director Dr. Alexander Horn said the initiative intends to address a gap between scientific knowledge and lived healthcare reality. Physician and influencer Felix Berndt (“DocFelix”) pointed to the multifactorial nature of obesity, citing factors such as genetics and hormones, sleep and stress. PD Dr. Tim Hollstein underlined the role of an empathetic first consultation in clinical practice. From a nutrition medicine perspective, Dr. Silja Schäfer positioned nutrition as a supportive element in managing a chronic condition.
