Katrin Kerner and Christian Wagner jointly assume leadership of global Corporate Communications at Fresenius
With immediate effect, Katrin Kerner and Christian Wagner have assumed leadership of global Corporate Communications at Fresenius. They will hold the role on an interim basis in addition to their current responsibilities as Head of CEO Relations and Head of Board Office. In this capacity, they report directly to the CEO of Fresenius, Michael Sen. The duo succeeds Anke Schmidt, who has decided to leave the company at her own request.
Michael Sen thanked Schmidt for her contribution: “She has set important impulses in a short period of time.” He also emphasized the strength of the new leadership team. Both managers possess deep industry expertise and are already shaping the strategic and cultural transformation of the company as part of the #FutureFresenius initiative. With experience in communications, finance, and corporate transformations at DAX-listed companies, they are expected to further strengthen the strategic direction of Fresenius’ communications function and elevate the company’s brand.
Katrin Kerner, who joined Fresenius in 2023 and has served as Head of CEO Relations since 2024, prepares CEO briefings, coordinates strategic corporate positions, and oversees global partnerships. Prior to joining Fresenius, she held senior communications roles at Siemens, Siemens Healthcare (now Siemens Healthineers), and Siemens Energy, where she played an active role in the IPO of Siemens Healthineers and the spin-off of Siemens Energy. She studied Economics at the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg and International Management at the Turku School of Economics in Finland.
Christian Wagner joined Fresenius in 2017, initially in Corporate Finance and, since 2023, as Chief of Staff to the CEO. In this role, he significantly contributes to the steering and further development of the company and also oversees corporate security. Before joining Fresenius, he worked in investment banking at Berenberg and at a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn. Wagner studied Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt and at the Institut Supérieur du Commerce (ISC) in Paris.
With this new dual leadership structure, Fresenius is sending a clear signal of its ambition to strengthen its strategically oriented, globally aligned communications function and further advance the transformation of the healthcare group.
