Legend Biotech names Alan Bash interim CEO
Legend Biotech has announced a change at the top of the company. Ying Huang, Ph.D., stepped down as Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the Board of Directors, effective July 24, 2026. The company announced the transition on July 27, 2026.
Huang will remain available as an advisor through August to help support the handover. Alan Bash, currently President of the CARVYKTI Business Unit, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer.
Board starts permanent CEO search
The Board of Directors has begun a comprehensive process to identify a permanent successor. During the interim period, the company is emphasizing continuity, execution and continued progress across its commercial, clinical and operational agenda.
Bash takes over leadership as Legend Biotech continues to focus on its cell therapy business and the global opportunity around CARVYKTI. The company said its strategy and priorities remain unchanged.
Cell therapy business remains central
Legend Biotech operates in cell therapy and reports a workforce of more than 3,000 employees. Its key marketed focus is CARVYKTI, a one-time CAR-T cell therapy for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. The therapy is developed and marketed with Johnson & Johnson.
The CEO transition places a key leadership role in focus at a company seeking to expand patient access for CARVYKTI while advancing further cell therapy programs.
