Jenny Blum joins BVMed as sustainability officer

Jenny Blum has taken over as sustainability officer at the German Medical Technology Association, BVMed, effective 1 September 2026. The 43-year-old physicist previously worked at the German Institute for Standardization, DIN.

Blum spent 18 years at DIN. She first served as project manager and has been a team coordinator since 2015. Her work covered national, European and international projects, committee activities, regulatory analysis and standardisation policy issues.

Role covers ESG, circular economy and supply chains

At BVMed, Blum will support national and European legislative and standardisation processes related to sustainability. Her remit includes sustainability reporting, circular economy topics and supply chain requirements. She will also support BVMed’s sustainability working group, ESG, and the association’s sustainability network.

BVMed managing director and board member Dr. Marc-Pierre Möll described the appointment as a reinforcement for a field that is becoming increasingly important for the medical technology sector. The association’s stated aim is to help shape a healthcare system that combines environmental and social responsibility with innovation and security of supply.

Sustainability as a regulatory issue for medtech

BVMed points to its activities at the interface of environmental law, standardisation and health technologies. These include participation in the DIN health technologies standards committee, information services on environmental regulation and policy work on digital solutions such as electronic instructions for use at European level.
