Rentschler Biopharma names Torsten Wöhr CEO
Rentschler Biopharma SE has appointed Dr. Torsten Wöhr as Chief Executive Officer. He is scheduled to take up the role on August 1, 2026. The company is a CDMO focused on biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing, with locations in Laupheim and Milford in the United States.
CDMO and biotech background
Wöhr brings more than 25 years of experience in the international CDMO and biotechnology sectors. Most recently, he served as Chief Commercial Officer of the Bachem Group, where he led global commercial activities and supported strategic investments aimed at growth.
Earlier in his career, Wöhr held several international leadership roles. His background also includes more than ten years in the United States. He earned his doctorate in bioorganic chemistry at the University and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology EPFL in Lausanne.
Leadership transition
The appointment marks the next stage in Rentschler Biopharma’s corporate strategy. According to the company, the focus remains on long-term growth and sustainable value creation.
Prof. Dr. Uwe Bücheler, who has been serving as interim CEO, will step down from the executive role on August 1, 2026. He will then return to his position as deputy chair of the supervisory board.
Prof. Dr. Nikolaus F. Rentschler, chair of the supervisory board, highlighted Wöhr’s international experience, sector expertise, and track record in customer relationships and commercial strategy. He also thanked Bücheler for providing leadership during the transition period.
