Simon Goeller to lead Sandoz in Germany

Sandoz has changed its leadership in Germany. Dr. Simon Goeller has served as Country President of Sandoz Germany since 1 August 2026 and also assumes the CEO role at Hexal.

Goeller succeeds Thomas Weigold, who is moving to a new position within Sandoz as Head, Central Cluster, Europe.

Focus on strategy and growth

Goeller joined Sandoz in summer 2023. Most recently, he held the role of Chief Transformation and Growth Officer, with responsibility for strategy, transformation, mergers and acquisitions, public affairs, and environmental, social and governance topics.

In his new role, Goeller is expected to help shape the company’s further development in Germany. His areas of engagement include the secure supply of essential medicines in Europe.

Experience in generics and biosimilars

Before joining Sandoz, Goeller spent more than 20 years at McKinsey & Company. He most recently served as partner and global head of the firm’s generics and biosimilars practice. His work included international strategy, transformation and integration projects in the off-patent medicines sector.

Until June 2023, Goeller was also an independent supervisory board member at Jamjoom Pharma.

Sandoz in Germany

In Germany, Sandoz is active through the product brands Hexal and 1 A Pharma. The Basel-headquartered group says it operates in more than 100 countries and employs more than 22,000 people worldwide.
