Boehringer Ingelheim Appoints Harsha Deshmukh as New Executive Leader for IT and Global Business Services Effective February 2026

Boehringer Ingelheim has announced a significant change within its executive leadership: The Shareholders’ Committee has appointed Harsha Deshmukh to the Executive Leadership Team, effective February 1, 2026. In his new role, he will be responsible for IT and Global Business Services – two areas that will now operate as an independent executive division and play a central role in advancing the company’s digital evolution.

By separating these units from the former Group Functions division, Boehringer Ingelheim underscores the strategic relevance of digital innovation and modern internal service structures. Deshmukh is expected to accelerate this development and further strengthen the company’s transformation strategy.

Hubertus von Baumbach, Chairman of the Shareholders’ Committee, emphasized the importance of this decision: “With his extensive experience in driving innovation, he will further advance our transformation journey – a transformation in service of patients.” He added that the success of this journey is rooted in the proven commitment of all employees.

Shashank Deshpande, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors, also welcomed the appointment, stating that strengthening IT and services is essential to securing the company’s future growth.

Harsha Deshmukh joins from Infineon Technologies AG in Munich, where he most recently served as Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer. With academic qualifications in electronics, human resources, and global management and more than 35 years of professional experience, he brings comprehensive expertise in technology, digitalization, and operational transformation.

His key career milestones include:

  • 2021 – present: Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer, Infineon Technologies AG, Munich
  • 2009 – 2021: Senior Vice President Information Technology, Infineon Technologies AG, Munich
  • 2001 – 2009: Director of Supply Chain Applications, Infineon Technologies, Munich
  • 1999 – 2001: Senior Consultant Advanced Planning Systems, Siemens Information Management Systems, Mumbai
  • 1989 – 1999: Manager Manufacturing Automation, Mukand Ltd., Mumbai
