Leadership Change at Fresenius: Anke Schmidt Takes Over Corporate Communications

Fresenius is realigning its communication strategy: As of June 1, Anke Schmidt will assume the role of Head of Corporate Communications. She takes over from Dennis Hofmann, who had been leading global communications at the healthcare group since September 2022 and has now decided to pursue new professional challenges.

In her new position, Schmidt will report directly to CEO Michael Sen. He expressed confidence in the appointment: “With Anke Schmidt, we are gaining an internationally experienced and well-respected communications expert. Her extensive background with DAX 40 companies will further strengthen our positioning as a leading global healthcare company.”

Previously, Schmidt served as Global Vice President Corporate Communications & Government Relations at Beiersdorf. Before that, she spent 24 years at BASF, holding various leadership roles in communications, government relations, and human resources in both domestic and international settings.

She holds degrees in French, economics, and political science, which she studied at the University of Hamburg and the Université de Nantes in France.

Fresenius expressed its sincere gratitude to Dennis Hofmann for his contributions during the company’s transformation phase. Michael Sen especially acknowledged Hofmann’s role in restructuring the global communications function during the launch of the #FutureFresenius initiative.

With Anke Schmidt’s appointment, the company aims to set new strategic impulses for an innovative and sustainably successful Fresenius.
