Wellster to launch GoLighter in France
Wellster Healthtech Group is expanding its international footprint with plans to introduce its obesity platform GoLighter in France. According to the company, the rollout is scheduled to take place gradually in July and August 2026.
France follows Sweden and Denmark as another international market for the Munich-based healthtech company. Wellster presents GoLighter as a digital care model for people with obesity or elevated BMI, combining physician-supervised GLP-1 therapy with nutrition coaching and medical monitoring.
Large market, limited digital care structures
Wellster says around 17 million people in France are medically classified as obese or have a BMI above 27. At the same time, the company sees limited development of structured digital care in this segment. Existing services are often focused more on prescription processes than on long-term therapeutic support.
The company argues that digital and asynchronous processes can help reduce pressure on medical practices. Its stated aim is to provide faster access to medically supervised treatment while offering patients a more structured care pathway.
Preparing for oral GLP-1 therapies
The expected evolution of GLP-1 therapies is a key factor behind the expansion. Wellster expects new treatment formats, especially oral medicines, to drive stronger demand in the coming years.
The company wants to position itself early as an integrated digital health platform. Its model is designed to combine digital access, physician involvement, quality assurance and continuous therapy monitoring.
Further European markets under review
For the French launch, Wellster is drawing on experience from Germany and Sweden. The company cites regulatory processes, medical quality assurance and international scaling as areas where it has gathered learnings. It also refers to a study from the previous year that showed high adherence among patients using telemedical services such as GoLighter.
Looking ahead, Wellster identifies additional European markets including Italy and Spain. The group also operates digital health offerings in areas such as men’s health, women’s health, hair loss, medical cannabis and self-tests. According to the company, more than two million people have used telemedical consultations across its platforms.
