Jenoptik appoints Dr. Dominic Dorfner as future CEO

Jenoptik AG’s Supervisory Board has appointed Dr. Dominic Dorfner as the company’s future Chief Executive Officer. He was unanimously selected for a three-year term.

Dorfner follows Dr. Stefan Traeger, who left the company on 15 February 2026. Jenoptik expects Dorfner to take office no later than 1 October 2026.

Current role and management track record

Born in 1980, Dr. Dominic Dorfner is currently President & CEO of Semikron Danfoss, a power electronics supplier with revenue of more than €1 billion and over 4,000 employees. In that role, he has led the company’s global strategy and operations.

He joined the Danfoss Group in 2021 and held several leadership positions, including Senior Vice President for the Automotive division and the Solutions & Systems division. Before that, he spent more than eight years at the Voith Group, with responsibilities including global production networks and value chains. He began his career at strategy consultancy Roland Berger, focusing on industrial and high-tech companies.

Education and research focus

Dorfner studied physics with a focus on semiconductors and bio-nanotechnology at the Technical University of Munich and in Illinois, US. He earned a doctorate in photonic biosensing.
