Leadership Change at BAHN-BKK: Christine Enenkel Takes Over as CEO – Dominik Dany Joins the Executive Board in 2026

A new chapter begins at BAHN-BKK in 2026. After 27 years with the organization, long-serving CEO Hans-Jörg Gittler is retiring and handing over leadership to Christine Enenkel. The trained health economist has been a board member since 2024 and brings more than 25 years of leadership experience within the German healthcare system. Her expertise in innovative and customer-centric care structures has already provided the BAHN-BKK with important new momentum.

Claudia Huppertz and Dr. Anika Brea Salvago, alternating chairs of the BAHN-BKK Supervisory Board, acknowledge Gittler’s decades of contributions, highlighting his essential role in shaping the organization’s success. At the same time, they express confidence in Enenkel, who is expected to guide BAHN-BKK safely through a phase of significant challenges.

With this leadership transition, BAHN-BKK is setting the course for the future. Beginning January 1, 2026, Enenkel will be joined by Dominik Dany, previously Head of Insurance/Finance. The statistician began his career at BAHN-BKK in 2009 as a financial analyst and subsequently held various specialist and leadership positions. As a result, he not only gained deep insight into the organization but also comprehensive expertise in statutory health insurance.

Going forward, Dany will oversee the divisions HR/Organization/IT and Insurance/Finance. Enenkel will continue to be responsible for Health and Long-Term Care as well as Customer and Market. Together, they aim to advance the strategic development of the organization.

“I am very much looking forward to building on the successful work of Hans-Jörg Gittler and further driving forward the development of BAHN-BKK together with Dominik Dany,” says Enenkel. The statutory health and long-term care insurance system currently faces major challenges. Her ambition is to provide insured members with reliable, individualized, and future-oriented care at all times. To achieve this, BAHN-BKK will focus on personal guidance, needs-based services, and digital solutions that make access to healthcare offerings easier.

As one of the oldest statutory health insurance funds in Germany, BAHN-BKK today serves more than 670,000 customers and is a key point of contact for people working in the mobility sector.
