Dr. Johanna Graf joins the Scientific Advisory Board of BEYOND FLUORID as Deputy Chair
With Dr. med. dent. Johanna Graf, the initiative BEYOND FLUORID gains a distinguished expert in environmental and biological dentistry for its Scientific Advisory Board. She will serve as Deputy Chair, supporting former State Minister Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch, who leads the board.
Dr. Graf combines extensive clinical experience with scientific research and has long advocated for a holistic and evidence-based approach to dentistry. She studied and received her doctorate at the Charité University in Berlin, headed the Competence Center for Environmental Dentistry in Straubing, and now runs her own practice Dr. Graf & Colleagues. She is the author of the textbook Hotspot Zahn, co-author of Dementia – Prevention and Therapy, heads the Dental Medicine Working Group of the German Society for Environmental and Human Toxicology (DGUHT e.V.), and is a member of the International Society of Metal Free Implantology (ISMI).
Dr. Wolfgang Heubisch emphasizes the significance of this appointment:
“With Dr. Johanna Graf, BEYOND FLUORID gains an outstanding personality who combines clinical experience, scientific expertise, and social responsibility.”
The BEYOND FLUORID Scientific Advisory Board provides independent professional guidance to the initiative. It evaluates new scientific findings, critically reviews studies, and supports the development of evidence-based information for the public, policymakers, and professionals. The board is evolving into an interdisciplinary forum that shapes the scientific credibility and societal relevance of the initiative.
“I am pleased to contribute my experience to the work of BEYOND FLUORID,” says Dr. Graf. “We must critically yet objectively assess what fluoride truly achieves – and which alternatives are scientifically sound and safe for human health. Parents, consumers, and healthcare professionals deserve a transparent, fact-based discussion.”
The initiative’s main focus lies in raising awareness of the health risks associated with fluoride. Beyond the well-known danger of overexposure, scientific studies indicate possible links between fluoride intake and negative effects on child development. There is evidence of correlations with reduced IQ and impairments to brain and organ function, even with relatively low but long-term exposure.
With the appointment of Dr. Johanna Graf, BEYOND FLUORID underscores its commitment to providing scientifically independent and interdisciplinary education about fluoride and its alternatives.
