Anne-Kathrin Klemm Becomes Sole Chair of the BKK Dachverband – Clear Agenda for Sustainable Healthcare Reforms
Anne-Kathrin Klemm has officially taken over as the sole Chair of the BKK Dachverband, succeeding Franz Knieps, who is retiring after twelve influential years at the top of the organization.
Klemm brings deep institutional knowledge, having joined the association in 2014. She led the Policy and later the Policy and Communications departments, and since 2022, she shared leadership with Knieps. Her extensive experience in political advocacy for statutory health insurers provides her with a strong foundation to navigate the challenges ahead.
Her priorities are clear: “The coming years will be decisive for the future of our healthcare system,” Klemm states. “Stabilizing the finances of statutory health and long-term care insurance is essential—while also rethinking care to better serve the needs of the insured.”
Under the guiding motto “Reboot Now! #rebootGKV”, the BKKs have already outlined a comprehensive reform agenda. Klemm intends to consistently pursue and implement these demands, emphasizing a thoughtful rather than reactive approach:
“Reforms must be well-considered, sustainable, and open to innovation. Only then can we create a healthcare system that truly serves people by improving care and ensuring financial viability.”
Klemm paid tribute to her predecessor Franz Knieps: “Few have understood the intricacies and flaws of the system as well as he has. He shaped the political profile of the BKKs and always kept the insured at the center of his efforts. His legacy is deeply embedded in our organization.”
