WvD launches digital campaign against bureaucracy in medical aids care
The German industry association Wir versorgen Deutschland e.V. has announced a digital awareness campaign calling for less bureaucracy in the supply of medical aids. The campaign starts in Berlin on 27 July 2026, one day before Germany’s Day of Nature Conservation.
The initiative focuses on the need to dedicate more time to patients rather than administrative work. According to the association, medical supply retailers and service providers are facing growing documentation and verification requirements in daily care processes.
Linking administrative relief and resource use
WvD connects the campaign to the environmental theme of the awareness day. The association argues that extensive administrative procedures consume staff capacity and workflow resources, while also increasing paper use. In this context, bureaucracy reduction is framed as both an efficiency issue and a contribution to more careful use of resources.
The campaign also addresses policymakers. WvD says the federal government’s planned Medical Aids Modernisation and Bureaucracy Reduction Act should deliver practical relief for providers involved in day-to-day care.
Policy priorities named by the association
WvD points to documentation duties, approval processes and proof requirements as areas where changes are needed. The association also refers to industry proposals concerning contracts, prequalification and process optimisation.
WvD secretaries general Kirsten Abel and Dr Henning Schweer describe administrative relief as urgent. They also refer to the economic pressure on the medical aids sector linked to cuts following Germany’s statutory health insurance contribution rate stabilisation legislation.
In the association’s view, reducing administrative workload could free up capacity for consultation, fitting and individual patient care. WvD says this would benefit providers, patients and the wider healthcare system.
