Why Personal Care Routines Are Now Key to Health and Well-Being

Daily routines have become more than habits. They’ve evolved into an essential foundation for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. That’s the key message of the global study “A New View of Care,” conducted by Kantar on behalf of Kenvue, surveying over 10,000 participants across 10 countries.

From Hygiene to Prevention

The findings are clear: Personal care is now seen as an act of preventive self-care – no longer just about appearance. 88% of respondents said their routines positively impact their health.

Health, longevity, and mental strength are key motivators, especially among Gen Z and millennials. And it doesn’t take hours: Many feel healthier even with less than 15 minutes of personal care each day.

Trust, Motivation, and Challenges

Medical professionals and family members are the most trusted sources of advice – but when seeking information, people still turn first to Google and social media, despite skepticism. Influencers are especially relevant to younger audiences, though their credibility remains debated.

A standout insight: The biggest driver is intrinsic motivation – a desire to do something for oneself. Still, missing a routine often brings emotional consequences, such as guilt, low energy, or negative body image.

The Future: Simpler, Science-Backed Routines

Looking ahead, consumers want science-backed routines that are simple and consistent. Younger generations, in particular, are ready to invest more time and money in their care – focused on prevention and long-term health.

Conclusion

This study marks a paradigm shift: Personal care is no longer superficial – it’s a vital contribution to overall health. To support this movement, brands, healthcare providers, and society must unite to remove barriers and offer real, practical solutions for everyday care.
