Pfizer breaks the silence: New campaign focuses on intimacy and sexuality in metastatic breast cancer
With the new initiative “Tenderness in Breast Cancer”, Pfizer is putting a spotlight on a subject many patients find difficult to discuss: intimacy and sexuality in metastatic breast cancer. The goal is to break the silence, overcome insecurities, and create space for open conversations.
Living with metastatic breast cancer brings not only medical but also emotional challenges. Many women experience changes in body image, reduced self-confidence, fatigue, or pain during intercourse. These factors can deeply affect closeness with a partner. Pfizer believes: quality of life also includes tenderness and sexuality.
The new platform esgehtummich-brustkrebs.de/zaertlichkeit-bei-brustkrebs offers bundled knowledge, practical tips, video podcasts, personal stories, and conversation guides – both for medical consultations and partner communication.
A round table with leading experts such as Prof. Dr. Vesna Bjelic-Radisic (University Hospital Wuppertal), Prof. Dr. Annette Hasenburg (University Medical Center Mainz), and Renate Haidinger (Breast Cancer Germany e.V.) provides valuable medical and psychological insights. Voices from nursing and patient advocacy were also included to ensure a holistic approach.
The campaign aims to encourage women to redefine closeness and preserve intimacy as an essential part of life. Pfizer complements the initiative with podcasts, FAQs, and practical materials for patients and healthcare professionals.
“It is not only okay to talk about sexuality and breast cancer – it is important!”
