Stefan Betzold to leave Bauer Media Group

Stefan Betzold is leaving Bauer Media Group. The company said on March 24, 2026, in Hamburg that the Managing Director of Bauer Xcel Media and Chief Product & Marketing Officer for international digital publishing has decided to depart.

Betzold will remain available to support an orderly handover of his responsibilities.

Role in international digital publishing

Betzold joined Bauer Media Group in early 2024. As a member of the management team, he oversaw the company’s digital publishing portfolio of more than 40 media brands across Germany and the UK.

His remit included expanding monetisation, steering advertising sales and commerce activities, and strengthening cross-border collaboration between the German and UK businesses. During his tenure, Bauer also developed a new publishing platform intended to underpin product innovation, efficiency gains and additional revenue models internationally.

Background before Bauer

Before joining Bauer, Betzold held senior roles at Axel Springer SE. Among other positions, he served as managing director for the digital business of German media brands including BILD, WELT and Computerbild, and was also involved in founding the PropTech company Evernest.
