Nurix Achieves $7 Million Milestone in Pfizer Collaboration

Nurix Therapeutics has reached a research milestone in its strategic collaboration with Pfizer. The clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company will receive a $7 million payment linked to work on degrader antibody conjugates, or DACs.

The collaboration was originally formed with Seagen in September 2023. Seagen is now part of Pfizer. Nurix previously received an upfront payment of $60 million, and the latest milestone brings total payments received under the agreement to $82 million.

Terms of the partnership

Under the agreement, Nurix is eligible for up to $3.4 billion in potential research, development, regulatory and commercial milestone payments across multiple programs. The company may also receive tiered royalties on future product sales, ranging from the mid-single digits to the low double digits.

Nurix also retains an option for U.S. profit sharing and co-promotion rights for up to two products that may emerge from the collaboration.

DACs as an emerging modality

Degrader antibody conjugates are designed to combine antibody-based cell and tissue targeting with the mechanism of targeted protein degradation. In contrast to conventional antibody-drug conjugates, which often deliver cytotoxic payloads to cells expressing a specific antigen, DACs are intended to deliver degraders that remove defined disease-driving proteins.

The approach may offer several layers of selectivity, including cell-surface antigen expression, the intracellular target protein and E3 ligase expression.

Nurix pipeline focus

Brisbane, California-based Nurix develops medicines based on targeted protein degradation for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Its clinical oncology pipeline includes bexobrutideg, a BTK degrader being co-developed with Roche, and NX-1607, an inhibitor of the E3 ligase CBL-B.

The company’s autoimmune pipeline includes bexobrutideg with Roche, an IRAK4 degrader program with Gilead and a STAT6 degrader program with Sanofi. Nurix is also advancing preclinical degrader and DAC programs internally and through collaborations with Gilead, Sanofi and Pfizer.
