Tuesday, October 27, 2026
The media group Deutscher Apotheker Verlag is expanding its senior management team. Ingo Mahl will take over as publishing managing director on December 1, 2026, joining Leonie Haas-Rotta and Nils Wörner in the group’s leadership.
In the new role, Mahl will be responsible for the publishing portfolio and its further development. His remit includes the journal editorial teams, the media sales unit, the book programme including production, and the DAV Academy with its continuing education and event activities.
Digital expansion alongside print
A key focus will be the further expansion of digital media offerings. At the same time, the group plans to maintain and develop print as a relevant format. For a specialist media provider serving the pharmacy and healthcare market, the appointment is also relevant to advertisers and partners that use editorial products, media sales, books, education and events to reach professional audiences.
According to the media group, agile processes, automation and the use of AI will also be part of the portfolio development agenda. The company links this direction to more efficient editorial work and product development.
Background in specialist media and B2B marketing
Mahl has a background in specialist media. Most recently, he served as chairman of the management board and CEO of Schlütersche Mediengruppe in Hanover, a provider of specialist media and B2B marketing solutions. In that role, he held strategic and operational responsibility and worked on restructuring and digital transformation.
Before that, Mahl was chief product officer at Vogel Communications Group. He also held several management roles at Wolters Kluwer Germany. His career has covered product management, digital transformation and the development of new products and business models.
