Besins acquires UniD to expand pharmatech capabilities
Besins Healthcare is expanding its development and manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of UniD Manufacturing, a Belgium-based pharmaceutical CDMO focused on long-acting drug delivery and polymer-based formulations.
The transaction strengthens Besins Healthcare’s platform for future innovation in hormone health. It also gives the group access to specialist development and manufacturing infrastructure for complex pharmaceutical technologies.
Focus on long-acting delivery systems
UniD Manufacturing has more than 20 years of experience in pharmaceutical development and production. Based in Seraing, Belgium, the company works with technologies including implants, inserts and vaginal rings. These capabilities complement Besins Healthcare’s expertise in hormone therapies, international markets and commercialization.
52 UniD employees will join Besins Healthcare as part of the acquisition. Their technical know-how is expected to support the group’s development, manufacturing and innovation activities.
UniD becomes Besins Healthcare PharmTech
Following the acquisition, UniD Manufacturing will be renamed Besins Healthcare PharmTech. The site is planned to develop gradually into a center of excellence for innovation and future development programs.
Besins Healthcare said UniD will continue to support its existing clients and partners. The company aims to maintain service continuity and quality during the transition.
Besins Healthcare reported revenues of more than 700 million euros in 2025 and continued double-digit growth. The acquisition aligns with its broader strategy to reinforce its global position in hormone health through added scientific, technological and industrial capabilities.
