Tarsus teams up with John Cena to raise awareness of Demodex blepharitis
Tarsus Pharmaceuticals has announced a new awareness partnership with actor and entertainer John Cena focused on Demodex blepharitis. The eyelid condition is caused by microscopic mites living in and around the eyelashes and is often overlooked despite being common.
Campaign rollout
The company said the initiative will roll out over the coming months through media interviews and social content. In the campaign, Cena shares his personal experience with symptoms such as eyelid redness, itching, and crusting, and describes how he eventually sought care and received a diagnosis.

As part of the collaboration, Cena also discusses treatment with XDEMVY (lotilaner ophthalmic solution) 0.25%. Tarsus positions XDEMVY as the first and only FDA-approved therapy in the US that directly targets and kills the mites associated with Demodex blepharitis.
How the condition is identified in routine care
According to Tarsus, Demodex blepharitis can be identified during a routine eye exam by checking the eyelid margin for collarettes, a characteristic form of crusting. The company states that patients with collarettes have Demodex blepharitis.
