“BACK TO YOU”: New GSK Initiative Supports People With Multiple Myeloma and Their Families in Challenging Times
For many individuals, a Multiple Myeloma diagnosis represents a profound turning point. This rare but serious cancer of the bone marrow affects around 6,700 people in Germany every year. Because early symptoms such as fatigue or back pain are often nonspecific, the disease is frequently discovered by chance. Although modern therapies can stabilize the condition for extended periods, relapses remain part of the disease and often lead to emotional insecurity for both patients and families.
Against this backdrop, GSK has developed the “BACK TO YOU” initiative, designed to support people living with Multiple Myeloma during challenging phases – especially in times of relapse. Created together with patients, hemato-oncologists and psycho-oncologists, the initiative aims to help individuals rediscover their inner strength and take their next steps with confidence.
The centerpiece of the initiative is a 20-card set offering practical everyday tips and inspiring reflections. Topics include empowerment, resilience, physical activity, meaning and joy in life. The cards are available both as a physical set and online via Halt-bei-Krebs.de.
Another key element is the “BACK TO YOU” video podcast. Patients share personal experiences with the disease – from moments of doubt to moments of hope. Additional episodes featuring oncologists, psycho-oncologists and oncology nurses will be published on major podcast platforms in the coming weeks.
Complementing these resources, the initiative’s Facebook and WhatsApp channels offer regular motivational content, information about Multiple Myeloma and opportunities for community exchange. Facebook also serves as a platform for mutual support.
With this initiative, GSK provides a comprehensive companion that encourages and empowers people to maintain orientation and stability despite the recurring challenges of the disease.
