University Medical Center Freiburg launches “checkt.mann” – a humorous Instagram channel on men’s health for Movember

At the start of “Movember” and in time for World Men’s Day on November 3, the University Medical Center Freiburg has launched its new Instagram channel “checkt.mann”. The channel takes an honest, humorous, and scientifically sound approach to men’s health – covering both physical well-being and mental resilience.

The goal is to raise awareness among men about their health without being patronizing. Instead of taboos or finger-pointing, followers can expect an open space where topics like prostate checks, hair loss, sleep, nutrition, workouts, and even sex-related injuries are discussed with ease and authenticity.

“We noticed that men are underrepresented among our social media followers. That’s why we want to address them directly with this new channel,” says Benjamin Waschow, Head of Corporate Communications at the University Medical Center Freiburg.

With the launch of “checkt.mann”, the hospital supports the international Movember campaign, which promotes prevention and education on men’s health worldwide. The word “Movember” combines “moustache” and “November” – symbolizing a visible sign of awareness and open discussion about men’s health.

The channel not only provides reliable information but also authentic insights into topics that truly matter to men. Honest, humorous, and science-based – that’s what “checkt.mann” is all about.
