ulrich medical supports the German women’s national sitting volleyball team on their road to the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles

ulrich medical is the official sponsor of the German women’s national sitting volleyball team and will accompany the athletes on their journey to the 2028 Paralympics in Los Angeles.

The four-year partnership is designed to improve the team’s training and competition conditions. “With our commitment to the German women’s national sitting volleyball team, we aim to promote inclusion and equal opportunities,” says Christoph Ulrich, Managing Partner of ulrich medical. In addition to financial support, the company will also highlight the team’s activities across its social media channels.

The players have already worn jerseys featuring the ulrich medical logo at international competitions, such as the European Championships in Győr (Hungary), where the team achieved 5th place – an important step on their road to the Paralympics.

Importance for the team

Head coach Norman Thomas emphasizes: “Our players are not professionals. They all work full-time jobs and train passionately in their free time. Only through sponsorship can we cover expenses such as travel to major tournaments like the 2025 World Cup in Indiana.” There, the team will compete for vital ranking points toward qualifying for the 2026 World Championships in China.

Assistant coach Kirsten Kohn, who also works at ulrich medical, highlights the impact of support on her volunteer work: flexible working hours, special leave, and educational leave allow her to balance her job and role as a coach.

Sitting Volleyball – a sport of inclusion

Sitting volleyball was developed for athletes with physical impairments. It is played on a smaller court (10 x 6 m) with a lower net (women: 1.05 m, men: 1.15 m). A defining rule: players must remain seated when playing the ball, and even serves may be blocked.

The German women’s national team has been competing successfully at international tournaments for years, inspiring young athletes to join the sport. This sponsorship helps raise visibility for inclusion in sports and provides female athletes with a stage for top-level performances.
